The 8U program is open to players ages 5 to 8 years old (birth year dependent) and offers three different levels of play; 6U, 8U In-House, and 8U Travel. All players in the program will be part of our structure which follows the principles of the ADM (USA Hockey's American Development Model). The ADM takes a process driven approach to development and is driven by a focus on skill development and building a stronger foundation by emphasizing the goal of creating solid and sustainable individual player skill sets. This is accomplished through instruction and repetition. Skill Development for hockey players is a life long journey...rather then a short term task!
The information below describes the structure for the typical Fall/Winter season (September through February). Features of the IW 8U/6U In-House program HNS Travel 8U Powered by TI Futures program are as follows:
1300 Governor Court
Abingdon, MD 21009
6U and 8U In-House play games exclusively at Ice World. On occasion, parents may be surveyed for interest or consideration for playing other groups at other local rinks when those opportunities may arise.
8U Travel HNS (CBHL) teams will play home games at Ice World and away games at other DMV location rinks. Teams may also be asked to play games at area DE/PA/NJ rinks from time to time. Tournament travel is considered on a case by case basis and presented to families to survey interest.
Age appropriate training and development curriculum will be followed.
