MAS Model - What You Need To Know

MAS is a Development First model with a focus on high level training as our primary objective. The process for forming teams and the level for tournament play is as follows:

8U

  • No formal evaluation process prior to the start of the practice schedule.

  • Coaches assess and evaluate players throughout the course of time together during practice and training sessions.

  • The number of teams will be determined based on registration enrollment.

  • The MAS staff will construct teams per evaluations and observations made during practices and communicate those rosters and team playing level to the families in mid-May prior to tournament play.

10U

  • Players will be evaluated at one of our Spring Clinics, please register for a spring clinic prior to your selected date.

  • At the 10U level, MAS will consider fielding teams at the AA, A, and/or B levels for tournament play.  (Numbers and skill level dependent)

12U AND 14U

  • Players will be evaluated at one of our Spring Clinics, please register for a spring clinic prior to your selected date.

  • At the 12U and 14U levels, MAS expects ONLY to field teams at the AA/AAA and A levels for tournament play.  If B level teams are fielded, these will be considered on a case to case basis and if so, will consider competing in only one tournament.

16U

  • The MAS staff will give consideration based on criteria such as a players' experience level, skill level, and/or referral.

  • If MAS is unfamiliar with a player, we may request that player attend a drop-in skills session. MAS may also consider an evaluation at an initial practice session.

  • MAS will build the team based on individual playing or skill level approval by the MAS staff.

  • Once a player is approved, MAS will grant the family access to register for the team and program.

GIRLS ONLY

  • 8U - 16U age bracket MAS Girls teams will be fielded based on inquiry.

  • Coaches assess and evaluate players throughout the course of time together during practice and training sessions.

  • Girls are welcome and encouraged to continue playing on co-ed teams in our traditional MAS model.

MAS and Tomorrow's Ice are passionate about the process of individual player development, improvement, and experience. The MAS staff through our extensive experience know this is accomplished through proper guidance and leadership with an emphasis on training over game play during this critical time of year. MAS desire to work with players and families who are aligned to support this rationale and belief system.  We welcome the opportunity to work with those ready for this challenge!
