Based on how well the Team EAH (Elite Advantage Hockey) coaching staff knows the players on our invitation list, as well as the trusted relationships we have with our referring coaches, invited players do not need to go through a tryout process to participate. Rather, by committing to participate, invited players are guaranteed a spot on one of the two EAH 16U teams. Our target number of players will be 30 skaters and 4 goalies at the 16U age level with final roster size subject to change and left to the discretion of the TI staff. Team assignments for tournaments will be based on EAH coaches’ assessments of player performance during the practice sessions. Our decisions will be based on a desire to field the most competitive, skill-appropriate teams for the tournaments.
At the 16U level, we anticipate that Team 1 will be considered our higher-level team and play at the AA level. Team 2 will be our second-level team, also competing at the AA level. (Although we have not fielded an EAH team at a level other then AA in the past, we do reserve the right to adjust playing levels if the coaches believe the team(s) would benefit more from an alternative level of competition).
It is important to understand that the tone and environment at each practice and training session will be designed for players who are appropriately skilled and equally willing to put in the work needed to practice and compete at an elite level. EAH 16U players need to understand they are now at an age to “compete,” whether that be for individual skill development, a spot on a roster, or playing time in games. Your personal invitation to join the EAH 16U spring program is because you have demonstrated this capacity and desire in the past.
With regard to practice schedules and locations, we have a variety of ice time available for use at a number of local Metro DC/Baltimore rinks (see below). For the current season, all training sessions will take place at Ice World in Abingdon, MD.
Exclusive to 2003-2004 birth year players (USA Hockey Midget/16U eligible for the 2019-2020 winter season).
Because this is a limited pool invitation-only program, please RSVP with an email message to Jason Slusher. Upon notifying EAH staff of your intent to participate, we ask that you register on-line soon after. Completing the online registration information, including full payment, will reserve your spot. (Selecting payment per our installment option will qualify to reserve your spot as well).
As necessary, we will move to alternate player invitations.
*Note: Coaches reserve the right to permit or deny any player based on assessment of skill and commitment level. The staff will also reserve the right to fill open spots and/or adjust roster by moving players between teams based on coach assessments of overall hockey traits a player may possess.
